Ocean FTP Server
Help, configuration and tips.

Main Dialog
The main dialog offers an informative and easy to use facility which allows you to view the current status of the FTP server. This dialog also allows access to all areas of the program.

Overall Status
There are 5 pieces of information on display, each one highlighting a different aspect of the server. The first line displays the overall status of the FTP server and the current listening port. The second line of information is the current number of users logged into the FTP server. The Data In and Data Out lines display the overall data transfer of the FTP server since it was last activated. The last line represents the current status of the Remote Admin facility, displaying how many current connections are established and how much data has been transferred.

Menus
There are several options available via the main menu. Each of these are described below...

  • File > Start - This starts the FTP server and the Remote Admin facility.
  • File > Stop - This stops the FTP server and the Remote Admin facility. By deactivating the FTP server, all current connections and files transfers will be disconnected.
  • File > Switch to NT Service Mode - If you have enabled 'Run as an NT Service' option in the General Settings you will now be able to use this option. By selecting this you can put Ocean FTP Server into NT Service mode without needing to reboot. This ensures that the application loads with windows even before a user logs in.
  • File > Hide in Tray - This hides the main dialog from view, double clicking on the icon in the system tray will restore the main dialog.
  • File > Exit - This closes the application.
  • View Activity - This button opens up the Activity Viewer which displays all currently connected users' activities in real time. This also gives you the option of 'kicking' or 'stopping the transfer' of the connected users.
  • Tools > Settings - This opens the settings control dialog which gives full access to all available settings and controls.
  • Help > Ocean FTP Server Help - This opens the help manual.
  • Help > Visit Website - This takes you to the Ocean FTP Server home page.
  • Help > Contact Us - This takes you to the Code Ocean contact page.
  • Help > Update License Key - This opens the update license dialog to allow you to view or update your current license key.
  • Help > Check for Updates - This connects to the Code Ocean update server to check if a new Ocean FTP Server version is available.
